Land and People

This project links Aboriginal people with mainstream environmental initiatives and supports Aboriginal enterprise development, eco tourism and the preservation and sharing of cultural heritage. It connects Indigenous wisdom with scientific knowledge of ways of working with the Land.
It also provides the way for stories, sacred sites and knowledge of the land to be documented as part of the restoration and healing of the Land and to be shared, as determined appropriate by custodians, with the broader community. Documenting the cultural heritage of the land provides possibilities of Aboriginal employment, Aboriginal-owned enterprises and eco-tourism, while taking care of the natural environment.
Bringing together people from rural, urban, Indigenous and non-Indigenous, environmental, scientific and other backgrounds and interests, the projects will offer an opportunity for all to appreciate other points of view on the natural environment. Visitors to these places where such projects operate, will have a chance to renew their appreciation of story and a way of walking in harmony with nature as well as engage with spiritual, cultural and environmental aspects of Land and Water.
